About me
My name is Anna Muniak, and I am the author of the children's book "August and the Icelandic Weather," intended for children aged 3–8. By profession, I am a geographer and work daily as a meteorologist at the Icelandic Met Office. I also hold a master's degree in psychology, which helps me better understand children's needs and how they explore the world around them.
At home, I am the mother of a curious five-year-old boy. His endless questions about my work and the ever-changing Icelandic weather became the inspiration for the book—a story that combines knowledge and childish imagination.
For this book, I also learned to draw the illustrations myself. Had I not decided to handle the illustrations myself, the book would probably have been released much sooner—but this way, it is exactly as I envisioned it from the beginning.
I hope it finds its way to many children and does what a good book should do: spark joy, ignite curiosity, and encourage them to discover the world.
